And everybody's allowed to be sad, trust me, but you aren't allowed to beat up yourself too much. There are enough people out there who'll do it for you, you don't need to hurt yourself as well.

I'm not so much beating myself up as accepting the harsh reality that I've alienated myself a bit from my friends and family. I didn't mean to, but it still happened.
Mmm, of course. He doesn't need too much misery..but he just needs to be told.
It isn't an inevitable part of fame; you can still have your loved ones around you, and sometimes that's even the reason for your success. But with any sort of dedication, comes a period of estrangement from your friends and family. It's how you manage to overcome that and pull them back into your life that really counts.
