I'm not so much beating myself up as accepting the harsh reality that I've alienated myself a bit from my friends and family. I didn't mean to, but it still happened.

It isn't an inevitable part of fame; you can still have your loved ones around you, and sometimes that's even the reason for your success. But with any sort of dedication, comes a period of estrangement from your friends and family. It's how you manage to overcome that and pull them back into your life that really counts.
